While we were both still in our youth Christine and I turned from the way of this world and trusted in Christ for our salvation. He has given joy and a purpose even in a difficult journey.
We met each other and were married in 2002 determined to serve the Lord wherever He led: small group Bible studies, Sunday schools, teaching, preaching, open air evangelism, short term overseas missions, youth leading, discipleship studies, martial arts ministries, kid’s clubs…
It has been an honor and pleasure to serve Him in the free moments that we have had while I kept another full-time job. But God is calling us to something more. It is our calling and it is our intent to spend the rest of our short days doing all that we can to win souls for Christ in a full-time capacity.
Logically and financially, given the current distress and uncertainty of our economy, this is not the time to be transitioning from a good and secure paying job and begin raising support as missionaries for the Gospel. But God’s ways often do not make human sense. As far as the heavens are above the earth, so are His ways above ours. (Is 55:9) He has given each believer differing gifts and abilities to fulfill His commission on earth to go into all the world and proclaim the Gospel. Some go out and some stay home, some support through prayer or giving.
God has specifically directed us to serve on staff with Open Air Campaigners’ Michigan Branch and it has been a joy to learn from and partner together with them in the work of the Gospel.
William Carey, missionary to India, said to his support and closest friends, “I will descend into the pit if you will hold tightly to the ropes.”
“Only one life, it will soon be passed. Only what’s done for Christ will last.” C.T. Studd
